This historical novel combining fact and fiction that spans over fifty years sounds like it is rich with information covering one part of America's past. Great review!

Today's BOTD is a historical fiction novel that follows Mongoose and his boyhood friends over the course of five decades. Readers will love watching how their lives intertwine with the one another over the years and how they reconnect on their transitions from Brownsville, NY to Las Vegas. Sounds really good! I've added this to my WTR list. Thank you!! :-)

Many characters hurt my head. In a book that is hard to find a protagonist is very unique. I wonder how the author developed all those characters in the book, which stays the readers up. Mongoose sounds intriguing among all the characters. But as of now, I'll skip this book. Congratulations on BOTD!

I think my head will be jumbled. Having to remember the names and personalities of seven to eight protagonists. I'll pass on this but congrats on BOTD. I like this book so much.

Set in Brownsville a hood in NYC, the author combines a host of unique characters to deliver this book that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. The author expertly combines fact and fiction in the story as well. Congrats on BOTD.

Nice review, though I love historical fiction and this storyline is appealing to me, the too many uses of profane words are not my kind of book. Therefore, I think I will skip this one. However, from your review, I would recommend those who don't mind the vulgar language read this book. Congrats on BOTD.

I've sampled this book, and as with the reviewer, I did notice quite a number of swear words and profanity. I also agree that profanity is not overwhelming in this book, and the swear words and sexually charged language do interplay successfully with the kind of characters the author is developing - pre-high school boys of the NYC suburbs and the owner of a casino would be unlikely to express themselves in the Royal English, would they? :) Good book in my view, and I like the memories of Mongoose of his pre-high school summer on the beach with the friends.

I am not much of a fan of historical fiction. However, I do like Mafia focused stories. The multiple main characters will be interesting with the different perspectives. Nice review.

The character named Mongoose is interesting, and so is is Moe and Scumbag so I’m looking forward to digging into this “faction” to know them and how they survived all the challenges thrown at them in a period set at a very challenging time. Will their being Jews(apparently) gave them much more hardships after the war?

I don’t really like mafia-related books. However, I am intrigued about the way of life just after the war .

Erm, the profanity is a bit much for me, so I’ll probably be skipping this one. Hope people who enjoy historical fiction give it a read!

The storyline of the book is not that much captivating for me but I love the simplicity of the cover of the book, considering that it is based on history. The title of the book alone makes a blast, I love it.
