Review by Jontalem -- The Toki-Girl and the Sparrow-Boy ...
I thought the book was a beautiful but yet sad story. I want my kids to read The Toki Girl and the Sparrow-Boy it’s a story of family, love, and protection. The mother and father in the story are my favorite characters because regardless of what it cost them they sacrificed themselves for there kids. My least favorite character is Genmai and his greed. Another thing I loved was the artwork and it’s originality in the beginning of each chapter.
The story takes you through foreign lands and as you read you feel as if you are traveling with Azuki and your trying to figure out who you are, all the while you are running from the clutches of evil in hopes to live. The beauty in the story is the animation of the characters and how they come to life as if they are real human. As I am reading this book you can feel the stories of the man and woman in Japan experience lost and looking for hope. Feeling trapped and not understanding who they are are what’s going on. The fact that Shota [\b] and Azuki[\b] had to watch there loved ones be taken from them all because of the treasure they possessed.
I loved and enjoyed the excitement in this fairytale that I rate a 4 out of 4.
