[Following is a volunteer review of "The McCoys Before The Feud" by Thomas McCoy.]
[rbc=4]id361862-125[/rbc]The McCoys Before The Feud Volume One was written by Thomas A McCoy. This is a fictional tale based on real-life events. It takes place just as the Civil War is coming to a close. The McCoy family men come together after their surrender to chase after something to take home to their families. The northern armies during the war raided homes and took gold and other valuables to be sold. During the war, some generals and high-ranking officials decided to keep some of the riches to themselves. The McCoys hatch a plan after coming across plans for different stashes to take back what was stolen.

Thomas McCoy did a great job with writing this very captivating novel. This book was a fantastic read, and it was hard to put down. I found this family wonderfully intriguing, and each member brought something to the table. I loved the story of the take-back, and the fact that this book is based on actual events pulled me in as well. I also can't believe that I didn't know that the north did that. I feel like history class did not fully teach both sides; at least mine didn't.

That being said, there were a few parts that I had to reread because it was difficult for me to understand. Those moments were few and far between so it didn't take away from the storyline at all. For me, there wasn't much wrong with this story. It was well-written and fun to read.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because I loved this read. It was so much fun and so exciting to read. The spelling errors I found were very few. There was only one that bothered me a lot. There is a woman named Terry; her name is spelled this way throughout the novel except on one page where it is spelled Terri twice. This was such a small issue that I don't feel I can give less than four stars.

This is a book for anyone over the age of 13. It's a relatively easy read. If you enjoy history, this book is for you. The author did take artistic liberties for the story, but it's still pretty awesome that this side of history is being told. It's not short, so take a break, sit next to the fire and grab a glass of your favorite beverage. Enjoy!
