Okay, I know many countries that are tolerant, or accurately accommodating, of people with unconventional sexual orientations. I don't see China as one . It will be interesting to see how Hanwei navigates his sexuality as a Chinese man.

In the "Journey To The Heartland" by Xiaolong Huang, the author discussed his growing up under an abusive father. As an adult, he discuss about himself as a guy. This book is primarily appealing to guys and sympathizers of LGBTQ+. A nice review.

A society keeps evolving, and it challenges what we are conditioned to believe. Live and let live should be the motto of everyone so that we are more accepting of other people's choices. Hanwei's journey into accepting his gay side and facing challenges that come with it makes a reader who is not from the LGBTQ+ community understand them.

The truth is, children are greatly affected by the lifestyle of their parents, and Hanwei is no exception. I love the part of the Chinese culture of children respecting their parents even when they are wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right. I do hope that Hanwei eventually made good progress with his life.

I feel for the hero of this book and sympathize with the ordeal, especially considering that I believe that all people should be treated with respect regardless of their sexual orientations. Moreover, no one has the right to interfere with the way individuals identify themselves and let them live their lives in peace, as I am sure you want to do as well. Apologies, I will have to pass the book, but congratulations on BOTD!
