Who was your favorite character in The Snow Child?

Post by Scott »

Who was your favorite character in the January book of the month, "The Snow Child" by Eowyn Ivey?

I like the different characters in the book. I think Ester was my favorite. The story always became more enjoyable when she came around, and she seems like she would be a lovely person.

I liked all of them and especially Faina. Ester was a favorite as well. I loved her no frills attitude.

I have to go with Esther! She was an audacious character - everything women of that time period were not, for the most part. But also a loving and capable rolemodel for her family and friends.

I have to say, Esther was my favorite character too. She was kind and loving, but she was also no-nonsense. A great, well-rounded character.

Oh, Esther was definitely my favorite. She was such a unique character, and she made parts of the story much lighter than they could have turned out.

Mabel was my favourite character because I felt like I could relate to her and I admired her for a number of reasons. I loved how she was oblivious to the strength she possessed and how unique and brave she really was. In saying this, everybody needs a friend like Ester.

I related best to Esther. She seemed down to earth and yet still believed in magic.

I too enjoyed the strength Esther's character portrayed. But to me Mabel was more relatable at this point in my life.

For me I would have to go with Jack. Forced to be the strong silent one he goes through quite a growing process through the whole story. From being the strong supportive husband, to hardworking protective caregiver to, injured and believing lover, and eventually to supportive father. He went from strong and silent to weak and helpless then back to strong supportive. It was interesting to see his character develop.

My favorite character has to be Ester. I always looked forward to her scenes, she always brought a bit of fun and cheer to it, and her witty sayings were just part of things that her who she was. I enjoyed other characters in the book, but there was no one like Ester.

I love Ester. She lightens the book with her humour and wittiness. She was grounded but she still believed that there was such a thing as magic. Very relatable.

My favorite character was Garrett, because he balanced his love of nature with his family responsibilities. He said, "I don't want to be warm and safe. I want to live." Faina felt this way, too, but she selfishly abandoned her family.

I guess I don't really have an absolute favorite. I didn't dislike any of them but I don't think I overly enjoyed one more than another. So I'll go with the husky puppy since I love the breed ;-)
