The little boy and his dog visit the pond every day searching for a new adventure. Author Marlana DeMarco Hogan tells the relaxing story of a boy and his dog in her work of children’s fiction titled Growing up in the Dragonfly Zone.

There is much to explore in the backyard. The young boy and his dog enjoy playing by the pond and making new discoveries each day. The passage of time brings the change of seasons and new adventures for the two friends. The little boy and his dog enjoy the carefree days as they continue to grow.

This book is skillfully written, organized, and edited. The story is told with simple and understandable language. There is one grammar error in the text, but this error caused no distraction. The story comfortably flows from one scene to the next making it pleasant to read, and it is sure to inspire young imaginations. This book would be a great bedtime story for children as it has a calm and relaxing tone. Children ages eight to ten would enjoy reading this book, and children ages three to seven would enjoy having an adult read this story to them.

Illustrations are a vital part of any children’s book. The illustrations in this book breathe life into the story. Each picture is beautifully colored and very well executed. Each character's illustration gives them a bright and engaging personality.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This book is beautifully illustrated. The pictures will engage and delight young readers. This is a well-written story. The examination of passing time creates a nostalgic feeling for the reader. The author’s purpose is clear and presented in an understandable way. Reading this story to or with children will help parents and teachers start conversations about nature, family, and friendship. Furthermore, this is a fun and entertaining story that the entire family can enjoy together.

If the cover is any indication, the illustrations are beautiful! Who wouldn't love a story about a boy and his dog? Sounds cute and perfect for children. Thanks so much for the detailed review.

Well put. Any children book without good pictorial is a waste of money and time. Thanks for this review.
