Toni The Superhero is a fun and easy to read children's book written by R. D. Base. Debbie Hefke illustrated this book. The main character Toni is a little kid who dresses up like a superhero to do his daily chores and activities. These are normal, every day activities for young children such as drawing, playing, sweeping, dusting, eating, sleeping and more. Toni is a great role model for kids to learn good habits.
The pictures are very vibrant and specific to the words on each page. It is easier for a child to pronounce a word if they can see the word demonstrated on the page. The author and illustrator both do an amazing job of keeping the children's attention through simplicity and visuals. I read this book with my daughter and she had a smile on her face the whole time.
I think this is a great book for young kids who are just learning to read because they do not have to focus on solving a mystery or determining the plot. The sentences are very short and simple. I also think this will encourage children to do their chores as the story shows how much Toni enjoys doing them. It also teaches kids that even superheroes have every day chores that need to be done.
I really feel like children can relate to the things happening in the story. I'm sure they are things a lot of children do for their own daily activities. A lot of children also enjoy dressing up as their favorite superhero or idol. The story shows Toni has the imagination of any child yet still gets the job done at home. This is especially important because a lot of children have a hard time focusing on their chores due to their imagination. This book is a great early educational tool to get your child ready for preschool or kindergarten. It can also be used to help older children who struggle with reading.
I saw no downside to this book. I rate it a 4 out of 4 and I hope the author continues to write more enjoyable words for our young children. R. D. Base understands that children are easily influenced and is geared toward helping them build confidence and increase focus. In recent research, the author says that this is the first book in the series. I can't wait to show my kids what happens in Toni's next adventure .
