As the name suggests, the book Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R. F. Kristi is a diary by a cat "Inca" who is a detective. This children's book is fifth part of the Inca book series. But its not mandatory to read the other books of the series to understand this book and we can read this book alone on its own from the series.

The book starts with the introduction to the characters of the book (and the series). Inca is the main character - the cat who is writing this diary. So all the things we see through Inca's eyes. Everything in the book including the introduction to family, the adventures, the incidents, the perception of "Boss" -another dog is through Inca's point of view which is so relatable to any kids point of view.

The story states and solves a mystery along with the adventure by the cats and dogs while their Mom - the main human character - Missy helps with adminstration stuff. The actual getting "will" and chase incident was written so descriptive that reader can see it happening in front of our eyes.

Not only the writing but the illustration sketches used in the book are so perfect for the incident being narrated that you visualize everything. The fonts and formatting used in the book are perfect for a children book.

The way every day has been related to X-mas and then the description of the celebration of the X-mas on the day is so detailed that the kids with different culture will get correct information about the festival and how it is celebrated. The way book talks about Kathmandu and Himalayas, the kids get to know the geographical details as well about these.

At some times, you get jumbled up between so many characters of the stories. This is only negative point that might keep children from understanding everything in the book. Few characters in the book could have been actually dropped out to reduce confusion since there is not much role they play in the story. I would give this book 3 out of 4 stars.

The story line in this children book consists of many cats and dogs and will interests someone who like children books or animals or adventures and mystery books. It is very good bed time story which will keep children engaged till the time story ends. It is definitely an interesting read not only for children, parents, mystery and adventure lovers but animal lovers too.
