Miriam, why can't you bear this bear story? LOL. I love reading children's stories, for I always learn something new or I just have the opportunity to remember my childhood. But I hate when these are not professionally edited. How can we teach kids to write properly if their books are full of errors? Too bad! Parents will be (Tree)stumped by this book edition.

While I can appreciate the many lessons to be learned from the book, the implied assent to bullying is something I cannot bear.
Cannot BEAR? Ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaa! *ahem* But I do feel your pain; I recently had to give low marks to a couple of children's books I'd read, and it is one of the saddest things to have to do.

You are so right, Kalin Adi. For children's books, we cannot compromise.

Ditto on the remembering my childhood part. Those were the days of innocence, once upon a time.

Yes, MsTri, it was a sad decision that had to be made. I actually submitted the review on December 23. I didn't plan to have it out on Christmas Day. I hope I didn't keep the Merry from the author's Christmas.

Thanks Miriam for this lovely review. I also like children books. Do check my reviews.

The grammatical errors are unfortunate and the author should have done more research on some facts as you rightly put. However, the review left me wondering whether or not being 'realistic' is something that children's books or even children's TV programs really focus on. Yesterday I was watching a cartoon about fish looking for a 2 legged puppy under water. Food for thought.

Yes, are we really giving our children the education that they need and deserve? I grew up with "Once upon a time" fairy tales. Today's kids pit plants with zombies, or whatever.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Katungu!

The book is a nice book if written by a cute little boy. The book is quite interesting, but needs more reviews.

It was written by a mother, and she dedicated it to her "darling children." I would be happy to see other reviews of the book.
