Title basically explains it. What so called children's book has not only entertained you, but seems as if the messages it conveys for for adults as well as the targeted audience.

Rules by Cynthia Lord is a must read for middle school. It is the story of a girl whose brother has autism. In order to help him function more “normally” she helps him keep a list of rules, like “no toys in the fish tank” and “always flush.” While some rules bring humor to the story, others are heart-wrenching life lessons, like, “Sometimes people laugh because they like you. Sometimes they laugh because they don’t.” It is a great way for kids to learn not only about autism but also about loving others the way they are.

I was amazed at how much I enjoyed Suzanne LaFleur's Love, Aubrey. It's about a young girl named Aubrey who must deal with the sudden death of her father and sister. The resulting story, in which Aubrey is slowly healed by the love of those who reach out to her, is beautiful and wholesome, such that even adults can benefit from reading it.
