Until recently I'd have thought "why review a children's book at all, you can read them in eight seconds at the store." then I began taking care of my niece, and trying to instill my love of reading into her 6-year-old mind. Found the review helpful and I'll probably be grabbing this one for her.
Through books, I have lived not just one life but thousands.

This sounds like a very interesting book according to you review. It seems like it prepares children at an early age to be aware of the world around it. Sadly, we live in a world that have many issues that are often made worse by people's ignorance. It sounds like this story helps to teaches children to start being aware of their world around them without trying to take their childhood away from them. Children should be aware without being worried. It is not the time in their life to be concerned about the adult issues. But at the same time, they shouldn't be ignorant either, so that when the time comes for them to do their part, they are either ignorant or apathetic.

Our "very loving caterpillar" deserves a name, at least. Sounds like a good one, but I feel this should have been taken care of too. Well, I love children's books and I'm particularly glad about the information gotten in terms of the climate and weather conditions of caterpillars since I knew absolutely nothing about that before.?
Most times, I fall flat on my face. But never do I remain on the floor; I rise again.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! Masterhawk88 - It's so true that once you read books to a child, you realize how some books have illustrations that spark their imagination and a story that makes them learn, laugh, use their imagination, etc.

This book sounds awesome. I would definitely consider getting this for my nephew when he gets a little bit older. He is becoming more aware and getting more into science-type things, but he isn't quite at the stage where he likes to sit down and read books. Though to be honest, I would be buying it more for myself anyway!

Great review!

Thanks for the helpful review. I like the fact that you mentioned that the author helped to educate about the environment. My daughter is raising butterflies in her classroom and the students have been anxiously watching the transformation of their caterpillar friends emerge from their cocoons. I'll definitely consider reading this one to her.

I love your review, very professional and unbiased. You understand that the "flaws" you perceived as flaws may not be perceived as such by other people and chose to rise above it by giving the book a good rating. I personally don't have an issue with children's books with big words or phrases. In fact that's how children expand their vocabulary, the younger the better. Thanks for your review again, I'll check this book out.

Sounds like a good book, and looks like kids will have to use a dictionary for some of the heavier terms! Great review, thanks!
