Favourite Childhood Book

How many people have a memory of their favourite childrens book? What book did you or your parents read to you while you were little and you have such sweet memories of it. I personally loved the Winnie the Pooh series. But what about your favourites?

During my childhood, my parents used to read books from the Golden Books series. My mom subscribed to a children's book club and she would read the books as they came in the mail. My favorite book series as a child was the Dr. Seuss books. As a child, I memorized all of the books by heart and I could recite them from beginning to end. :techie-studyingbrown:

I loved the NeverEnding Story. A magical book but much less known than the movie..The author Michael Ende is German. I was recently trying to find it on Amazon for Kindle in English but no such luck.

I have really good memories from author's like Just Blume, Beverly Clearly, Roald Dahl, Louis Sachar, JK Rowling, and probably a dozen others.

I spent so many hours with characters like Henry Huggins, Peter Hatcher and Fudge, Matilda/the BFG, the Wayside School and Holes kids, Harry, etc. So many good memories.

Some lesser known books I liked were ones like Jigsaw Jones the kid detective and The Three Investigators.

Dunno if I could pick a favorite though. Semi recently read some Andrew Clements works and like them and debating reading through some Newberry winners too.

My mother used to read me Grimm's Fairy Tales nightly, before bed. That kinda kick started a love of fairytales and I spent a lot of time reading retellings. I think my favorite series had to be The Frog Princess series by E. D. Baker.

I also read a ton of The Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. (She also did a retelling of the Odyssey that was pretty great too.)

I am told that my favourite book when I was really little was "Angus and the Ducks". Apparently I asked to have it read to me many, many times. Another favourite was "The Boxcar Children" which I have just learned was made into a movie in 2014. I read many of the books previously mentioned as well and Enid Blyton was also a favourite

I remember I always read The Love Me Bird and Duck for President. I have always loved the hidden meaning behind those stories.

I love the Mercer Mayer books. My son (full grown now) grew up reading all these books. Very good, easy read, good storyline, morals. Great kids books.

For a while, it was out of print. I had to find a used copy about 10 years ago just so I could have one. I don't know that it is available in ebook format.

As a child, I adored The Pokey Little Puppy! I also was obsessed with The Little Mermaid book and Alvin Schwartz's In a Dark Dark Room Learn-To-Read book. As I grew older, I moved on to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which still creep me out to this day (because of the illustrations).
