Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess

Post by Zabbie31 »

Out of all the books I read as a child the one I loved most was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess. Although it is not my favorite book now that i am a young adult I still like to read it every now and then. I feel loved the book because of rhyming Dr. Suess used in this book, it made reading fun for me. The book is also great for new readers as it uses a lot of repetition ex: "would you eat them here or there? I could not would not eat them here or there I will not eat them anywhere", a child reading this book or being read this book by a parent learns about repetition and get multiple chances to try and sound out words.

I think I like ALL the Dr. Suess books--well, at least all the ones I've read! My grandson has had his dad reading Seuss to him since he was born. I enjoyed listening to that myself ;-)

I have alsways loved Dr. Seuss books. I used them to teach my children phonics and phonetics. As a teacher, I use them in my classes, as well. By far though, if I had to choose, Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite. When my children were little, I would have green egg and ham parties at least once per year. They loved it because I would always be creative in the green foods I would serve.

I love Dr. Suess books! I remember going to the library and checking out as many as I could when I was a kid. :) When I read Green Eggs and Ham in elementary school, my teachers dyed eggs green for us to eat. It was such a fun and memorable time!
I also agree that most of Dr. Suess' books are great for kids learning how to read.

I'm over the moon with Dr. Seuss. Ithe was the rhyming for me as well. Now that my younger kids are in kindergarten (Jr. and Senior) they bring his books home that we don't have in our collection. Brings back a lot of memories.

His books were great reading as a kid. Timeless and interesting. I loved the world that was created in those books. So whimsical and fun.

This has to be my favorite Dr Seuss book too. I also loved McGuiliculty's Pool. When my kids were little, we read them all. I found some titles that I had never heard of.

As a child, I didn't even like ham, yet this book always made me want to try green eggs and ham. I've spent a lot of time teaching EFL to young kids, and even the lowest levels could enjoy this story. The animated video that goes along with it is great as well.

I love Green Eggs and Ham. My son is six, and it is the first book he's read on his own. It made me a very proud Mom!

I like all the Dr Suess books too! They don't make much sense sometimes but that's what I love the most about it!
