I can never miss reading children's fiction, they are so intriguing. Great job with the review though, you've got pretty amazing writing skills.

This sounds like a beautifully crafted fantasy series with well-developed characters and intricate subplots woven in seamlessly. Addition of Japanese history only adds to the charm of this novel. Thanks for the review!

I LOVE the idea of these shape-shifting (?) characters and all of the folklore and mythology contained within. Count me in, and thanks for the wonderful review!

This sounds like an all round interesting book...A thriller incorporating fantasy, folklore, historical tidbits, politics, dual-natured beings, quests...For a children's book, I think the two in one would make a great gift for young adults too.

This seems like an interesting read- birds, Japanese culture, brother/sister and self discovery. I like it when reviewers find books better than they expected.

Thanks for your review! I was considering not reading this series, but after reading your review I'm going to switch it to my TBR shelf. Folklore and fantasy mixed with lessons for children does sound like an enchanting combination. Congrats to BOTD!

Thanks gali for such an amazing review. You've given a great overview of the themes in the book, and written about them in such an enticing way I couldn't help but add this book to my 'to read' shelf. I can't wait to recommend it to my niece to read!

The book certainly has a unique story line. Two kids (Azuki and her brother, Shota) had the ability to turn into birds. I like that the book has illustrations as well. Congrats to the author for winning BOTD.
