Children and adults often have very different perceptions of life. This book highlights those differences in a unique way. This story follows a boy who meets a bird. However, this is no ordinary bird. This special bird makes an interesting connection and bonds with the boy. The bird then takes him on an unforgettable journey. On this journey, the boy makes a shocking discovery. Where do they go? What does the boy learn? Read The Bird Ride by Wade W. Bergner to find out.

I really enjoyed the simplicity of this book. The language was straightforward. I also liked the overall message about loving others and leaving your mark on the world. The illustrations were colorful and visually pleasing. I could clearly imagine the energy that the author was describing. I thought that was a neat and interesting way to describe people and their lives.

A drawback I had was that it seemed a little vague how the boy could see the energy that he didn’t use to see once he was done with the journey with the bird. Perhaps he was just more naturally aware of it, or the bird left that imprint on him, but it wasn’t obvious. The book also had a few very minor editing errors that did not distract from the story.

I give The Bird Ride a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The drawbacks were both so minor that there was no need to reduce the stars. The book was lovely. Although it is a children’s book, it almost felt as though it was written for adults to learn from as they read to their children. Fortunately, the message came across as kind, and it didn’t feel in any way sanctimonious.

I recommend this book to children who enjoy fantasy. I also recommend it to adults who need a reminder of what really matters in life. Check out The Bird Ride by Wade W. Bergner to find out these important lessons!
