My two-year old has been wanting me to read this book to her over and over and over again. She just thinks it's so funny that the little bird can't figure out who his mother is. Sometimes (only sometimes, she is two, so sassiness happens) after we're done reading, she'll hug me tightly and say, "You are my Mommy-Mother." It's really the sweetest thing.
A book is a gift you can open again and again.

One of the best books ever hands down. I'm always reading one of Dr. Suess books.

Raven, what a wonderful story about you and your grandmother!
I loved reading this book as a child; it always gave me a warm feeling when the little bird finally found her mother......

Are you my mother was a good book but I have to say my favorite was green eggs and ham. My mom would read them to me when I was 5 and in kindergarten I even ate green eggs and ham. (green food dye was added)

Apologies if I'm repeating someone's post but I couldn't find a reference to it.
"Are you My Mother?" is an amazing book and has been republished under the Dr Seuss Library but was written by P.D. Eastman. Eastman and Seuss (or rather Dr Theodor Seuss Geisel) were colleagues and collaborated on some children's books so the mix up is entirely understandable.

For those who enjoyed "Are you My Mother?", I strongly recommend "Flap Your Wings", also by P.D. Eastman. It is the sequel story although I understand some argue about which book was written first. Both books make my daughter and nieces laugh out loud and they know them off by heart from multiple requested readings!

A wonderful children's book indeed!

I feel like it shows a different light of personalities. And could be taken in a much deeper way.

Either way, a good read.

I love "Are You My Mother" but my favorite will probably always be "The Cat in the Hat". I even use it as my screen name here!

This was actually a book I did not read until I had es to read it too. I love seeing their faces and eyes at the silliness, then the happiness when the mother was found.

This really was a good book and kids today enjoy it so much as well. I was happy when I saw the board book version of this book that I could read to toddlers.

This was one of my favorite books as a child! I especially loved how my mom would change her voice to be all the different characters. As an adult, I also find it to be a great book for teaching and learning :)

I love Dr. Seuss books. I loved them as a child and I love reading them to my children. My son has loved "Are You My Mother" because he thinks it is funny. They just had Dr. Suess week at school this week and he loved it. He also loves the book "Hop on Pop". Great books!
