Review of The Tree House Detectives and the Missing Crown of Thorns
Anna and Nana (Kristina) are going through a pile of junk when the former stumbles upon a book named “Treehouse Detectives— Private.” Nana’s church is hosting a fundraiser for the youths' trip. She is to sell her old cookbooks in the church and raise more money.
Intrigued by the title, Anna asks more about the old book. Nana slowly explains her detective team back in the day and the cases they solved at a small fee. Kristina and her two friends, Kaity and Lizel, formed a squad to investigate missing items like baseballs. One time during Easter, the crown of thorns supposed to be used in the play went missing. The three friends approached the person in charge of the play, Miss Hazel, and asked to be hired. That became their first case. Not long, the trio minds came up with potential suspects. Did they reclaim the missing crown of thorns on time?
When I first landed my eyes on the story, I was disappointed. I thought Anna was the detective who would recover the missing item. Simply put, I hoped for an ongoing child’s investigation. Instead, we have Nana narrating her previous detective skills to Anna. Fortunately, as I devoured the book, I could not help but get engrossed with Kristina’s and her friends’ undertakings. It felt more contemporary than a flashback!
I enjoyed the biblical teachings of faith in God and prayer. Children are encouraged to put their trust in God and wait upon Him. There was even a Bible verse to complement it. The two things I did not like were the conclusion and the dismal illustrations.
I found one typo. The Tree House Detectives and the Missing Crown of Thorns by Kristy Andrews is professionally edited. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to kids who would love to solve a mystery alongside Kristina, Kaity, and Lizel.

Seeing words they have not come across before would trigger their interest to know their respective meanings.
This is indeed a good book for children.
