Review of The Burnstones Game: In Search of the Last Door
Jackson and Mackenzie are two friends who love computer games. Jackson has a younger sibling named Tess. To Jackson’s irritation, Tess enjoys playing games and spending time with him. The latest game that Jackson is obsessing over is called Burnstones. Jackson and Mackenzie spent a lot of time on this game as it challenged them greatly, and they struggled to get past the first level. Tess was always pestering Jackson, wanting to help him get past the first level. Somehow, Tess and Jackson got trapped inside the game.
By some stroke of luck, the siblings managed to reach out to Mackenzie from the game world. He wasted no time and tried to rescue them. To return home, the siblings had to conquer all five levels of the game and restore balance in various lands. Their success in the levels rested on finding a specific stone in each land. Find out if the siblings, with Mackenzie’s help, managed to restore balance in various lands and return home by reading The Burnstones Game: In Search of the Last Door by T D Delaney.
There were several aspects of the book that I liked. The author has created a world with beautiful scenery and painted vivid imagery in the reader’s mind. Delaney also included hand-drawn maps of the various lands. These images and clear descriptions of the land, the characters, the large animals, and the scenery made it easy for me to envision the scenes.
The book has a clear format. It is broken down into chapters, making it easy for readers to navigate through the levels along with the characters. Some chapters provide a recap of the stones collected and the names of characters found in the preceding chapters. These recaps came in handy, as this book had many characters.
The only aspect that I consider negative about the book is the errors. The book contains several errors which warrant the deduction of a star. A round of editing is recommended to ensure it gets a well-deserved full-star rating. I rate the book 3 out of 4 stars. I withheld one star because of the errors.
The Burnstones Game: In Search of the Last Door is categorized as a children’s book, and it will appeal to teenagers who love computer games and have a passion for the environment. It is an engaging story that will keep its targeted audiences enthralled and well stimulated. It is an interactive and educational work of art that is bound to keep young adolescents’ creative minds sharp and alert.

I enjoy gaming and enjoyed this novel even more. You won't be disappointed.Hyacinth Bella wrote: ↑20 Jan 2022, 09:19 This is very intriguing. I thought that this is just a simple children's book, I did not expect that this would have its thrill and suspense. It makes me remember Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Thank you so much for the review!
