Are you looking for a good children’s book to engage your young ones? One with delightful characters, colourful illustrations and exciting adventures that would have them captivated? Serendipity Mystery: Diary of a Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi might just be the book for you. It is the 7th book in the Inca Book Series, and it follows the adventures of detective cat Inca and her teammates. She and her gang enjoy travelling the world, solving mysteries together and learning about different cultures and norms along the way.

Inca stretches as she lays on the beach in Sri Lanka. Her humanoid owner, Missy, had decided to have a holiday on the tiny island and had brought Inca, her kitty siblings, Cara and Fromage and their friend hamster, Charlotte, along with her. They are all having a good time frolicking and enjoying the sunny weather, which is better than cold and gloomy London, where they live. They even planned to do a bit of sightseeing as well. Suddenly, Missy gets a call that Solo, her friend and an international detective, along with Terrance, his doggy, were on their way to Sri Lanka to solve a crime. Inca and her friends are delighted that a brand new adventure is about to begin. Will this be a holiday to remember, and the team save the day once again?

I read Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula a few days ago, and I loved it. This book didn’t disappoint either. I love the way the author was able to combine the art of children’s storytelling with travelling and learning about new cultures and norms at the same time. She introduces new words and information in a fun way, enabling young minds to process and assimilate gradually. The writing style is descriptive and rich. The illustrations are colourful and vividly depict the scenes.

I also love how the author imparts the essence of doing good deeds and teamwork. For young and impressionable minds, this is important in their emotional development. There was a scene where Inca was initially praising herself for getting a particular job done. Then she remembered that she didn’t achieve the feat alone and recognised the part played by her teammates and friends. Young children need to learn about being a good team player and the value of collaboration.

Conclusively, I would rate it 4 out of 4 stars. There's nothing I dislike about the book. Though it is part of a series, it has an introductory page of the characters. Hence, it reads well as a standalone, and the characters are well developed. I couldn’t spot any error, so I must say it was exceptionally well-edited. I would recommend it to children aged 6-11 years as they would find it utterly delightful.
