Inca, the Siberian kitty, together with her family and friends, are on their way to visit South Korea, in this book. Their human mother has been invited to judge a cooking competition between teams of chefs from North and South Korea. Of course, all of them are able to go along with her on this trip. To make things more enjoyable for them, all of their dog friends are going to join them as their human father has decided to go along as well.

Right from the beginning of the trip, the animals help humans with all of the things that go wrong, as usual. Inca also has some fur-raising adventures in North Korea and meets some more strange and wonderful animals as well.

In an exciting episode, she is able to unite two kitties across the border between the divided countries, who have been apart for ages. The holiday is a wonderful success and towards the end of it, there is a subtle indication as to what the story in the next book of the series will be all about. 

This series of books about Inca and the Cat Detectives is a beautiful set of books that both children and adults will love. Cat Detectives in the Korean Peninsula by R. F. Kristi combines humor and adventure with some interesting facts built into the plot. Children will not only enjoy the animal characters, but the lively dialogue will foster a love for reading and for learning as well. 

Even as an adult, I find these books entertaining, and Inca, the narrator in the story, reminds me of what I believe a cat would sound like if it could actually talk! In an age where beautiful children's magazines that we used to have, no longer exist, books like this fill a much-needed gap. 

The illustrations are colorful and compliment the narrative in a way that will be enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Children and their parents from all parts of the world will enjoy this book as there are no sensitive or religious issues included, and the language is easy to understand. 

There are no errors in grammar or punctuation, and the book is well laid out. Although it is part of a series, it may be read as a standalone, as the author introduces all of the characters at the beginning of each of these books. These books are a wonderful addition to any child's library, and I have awarded this book a rating of four out of four stars.
