Dynomike: What's Heartfulness? by Frankie B. Rabbit is a sweet and energetic children's book about Dynomike and his friends learning what they can do when someone they know is not feeling their best. Dynomike and his friends are out on their bikes enjoying a beautiful day when one of their friends cannot come out and join them. His mother is ill and he needs to help her. Dynomike and his friends do not want to be in the way but also feel bad leaving their friend behind on his own. What can they do to help their friend and his mom?

I gave this book four out of four stars because it is sweet, enjoyable to read, and fun to look through. Author Frankie B. Rabbit keeps the subject light but Dynomike and his friends come up with nice things they can do that are original. It is all done in a rhyme but the rhymes are not cliche. The rhythm was pleasant, upbeat, and quick. I would suggest this for kindergarten to first grade listeners because it is probably too long for preschool unless the child is especially patient. It would also be good for second to third graders to read themselves with the rhyming words, but would not be a good fit above that unless the older child is looking for a fun, but easy, read.

The thing I liked the most about Dynomike: What's Heartfulness, was the pictures. Lots of children's books I read my kids have a couple bright colors but the entire book was bright and engaging. My six year old was excited to read it with me because it looked exciting to him. Even with a slightly sad subject (someone is sick), the bright colors and action was fun. I think my son will want to reread this book just to look at the pictures. I also loved the inclusion of the graphic novel format to the illustrations. I think this was especially helpful in keeping the story moving and will introduce another genre to children that they will see as they grow as readers.

The thing I liked the least was the length. I do not have any suggestions on what could be cut because it did not have superfluous parts. The story flowed and every part they included was useful, but I did notice that my son was struggling to pay attention a bit after page 20. That being said, it was 29 pages long, so it is about average length in my experience.

Overall, I think this was a great book and will be looking out for more Dynomike stories.
