Official Review: Spectacular Me by Hadar Fadida
Spectacular Me: I love my family, animals, life and…myself! is a short children’s book by Hadar Fadida. At the start of the story, the sun, the moon, and the stars are waiting for the birth of a child. When the child is born, the celestial characters are happy, and the child is filled with wonder at the amazing things he sees. Each day the child hears about, reads about, or sees people, jungle animals, sea creatures, birds, and more. While learning about each, he starts to wonder about himself. What makes him as spectacular as these unique and amazing creatures?
This positive and charming 33-page book is entertaining as well as educational. Children will love the colorful illustrations as well as the fun and optimistic story. Throughout the book, children will also learn the different days of the week while being introduced to the unique qualities of a variety of animals. With a cheerful and wonder-filled style, the story promotes an appreciation for nature and all living things.
The book also contains meaningful and poignant messages. It stresses that each person is unique and spectacular. Encouraging children to embrace who they are and what makes them unique is a great way to build confidence and self-esteem. I also love that the story focuses on how every living thing serves a purpose and has worth. This is an empowering and inspirational message for all ages.
I also like the interactive elements of this book. The start of the story encourages children to read along with the characters, and most pages include thought-bubbles in the illustrations for this purpose. Encouraging kids to read aloud promotes active reading and gives them an opportunity to connect to the text. After the book, the author provides links to a website with activities, prizes, and games related to the story. Adding this online element is an effective way to appeal to readers and encourage comprehension.
I enthusiastically rate this sweet and creative book 4 out of 4 stars. There is nothing about the book that I disliked. The illustrations are simple and colorful, the sentences are easy to understand, and the messages are fabulous. I could see parents reading this to their young children, or a preschool teacher reading this in class to encourage acceptance and tolerance.

I absolutely love this because the child is encouraged to learn beyond the book. It's awesome that the author put time and thought into the illustrations as well. Great review. Thanks!Julie Petitbon wrote: ↑18 Jan 2020, 17:21
