Official Review: I'm Popeye and I have a new fr...
I’m Popeye and I Have A New Friend Priscilla by Betts Heeley Huff is a whimsical children’s book about a dog named Popeye who rescues an orphaned puppy named Priscilla.
Popeye the Dog is taking a stroll through town, where he observes a variety of interesting people at work. As he is walking by a dark, scary alley, he sees a box moving. He discovers an abandoned puppy named Priscilla living in the old box. Popeye invites Priscilla to come home with him and volunteers to help her find a home.
I give I’m Popeye and I Have A New Friend Priscilla four out of four stars. The book is colorful, appealing, and beautifully illustrated. The story is filled with charming characters and silly fun, but it has important messages. The book appears to have been professionally edited. I did not find any errors in the text.
The thing I like best about the book is the message encouraging thoughtful behavior and an attitude of helping others. Popeye is a kind and thoughtful character and he wants everyone to be happy. So, he helps Priscilla to find a home of her own with people who will care for and love her.
There was nothing that I disliked about the book. It will make both children and adults smile.
I recommend I’m Popeye and I Have A New Friend Priscilla to parents of young children. The little ones will enjoy having the story of Popeye and Priscilla read to them. Older kids will enjoy the book too. The text is simple enough that beginning readers can read the story for themselves.
Kids will benefit from the book’s positive messages. Every animal deserves a loving home. People and animals come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors and have a variety of abilities. When we work to help each other, everyone benefits. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.
Although the book was written with children in mind, animal lovers of all ages might enjoy the happy tale with its beautiful illustrations.
