Review by Juliana_Isabella -- I Can See Peace
The best aspect of this book is the way in which children can see the same characters throughout the book. Each character has their own narrative in which they experience a peaceful moment interrupted and must move forward to find new peace. Having multiple main characters allows Penshorn to present many examples of the ways in which peace can be disrupted and restored in the lives of children.
Although I really enjoyed the story portion of the book, the learning materials at the end of the book are poorly formatted, which could make them difficult to use. In the online version that I read, the font is incredibly small and the spacing is occasionally irregular. The material itself seems useful for parents trying to teach their children, but it could be frustrating to read because of these formatting issues.
Overall, I give this book 4 out of 4 stars. Although the learning materials could have been adapted better for the online version of the book, the actual story is free from errors. Because of this, I feel that I can still give the book the four stars it deserves.
I really enjoyed the pairing of Penshorn’s intricate storyline with Keith’s tranquil illustrations in I Can See Peace. This story will delight children ages 2-5 and provide their parents with useful tools for discussing conflict resolution and self-control.
