LOL at three sides! I not only believe there are two sides to a story, I also believe there is always another side.

I think what is meant by this statement is that there is always another way to look at things.

There are two sides of the story. One was partially made up.

I find this book to be completely fascinating. Flynn exposes the harsh reality of our world, convicting people based on what 'perspective' appears to be most legitimate, most 'correct.' Amy presented herself in a skilfully crafted manner to the media and the public, but entirely separately for Nick. Therefore, he was instantly punished based on the fact that she was deemed the victim, as opposed to there being accurate evidence that she had manipulated the entire scenario. Many times I doubted myself on my opinions of the characters and of what perspective was more relatable. I love that Flynn forced me to be a critical thinker...

It definitely fits the book, I can't think of any other major examples right now, but I'm sure there is plenty. Both sides in this story were manipulative and self serving.

I read this book around 2012. I was mystified by Amy's actions. The book gives you a diary perspective from the start. Later in the book, I found Amy to be a sociopath. The movie stuck pretty close to the script. I must say this was the first mystery that had me laughing my butt off. Many women would agree with Amazing Amy's reasons. Although I like most, question her actions. Best line in respects to her is "A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Totally agree that they are two sides to every story. It takes a lot of perspective to see that.

Although I don't like Amy's behaviors but I give credit to the way she planed every thing.

I think this tagline perfectly fits the novel. As much as Amy seems crazy near the end of the novel, there are some aspects of her story that do make sense. Both of them tell the same story of a drifting marriage but the consequences play out in different ways.

The tagline definitely does fit the book...
Nick is a pretty shitty guy, what with the whole cheating on his wife with one of his students no less.
Amy on the other hand is completely deranged and evil.
I recall Gillian Flynn explicitly said that she wrote the book to show that women are equally capable of being awful people that do awful things and hurt others. She did a great job with that in my opinion.

I definitely agree that the tagline fits the book and is true. Everyone always has a witness to their actions, and there will always be different consequences for everyone involved. Therefore, every person and every story will always have at least two sides, no matter how awful the action.

i also agree with astory having two sides sad note then happier one because if you watch movies some parts you get sad then at times you joy, most of these movies are acted basing on stories

There are two sides to every story. Two manipulative, very dark sides in this case. I love how each side brought us around to their view of thinking in the premise of the book with misdirection then completely switched later and made readers question a lot of things previously learned about the book.

I disagree that the tag line represents the book. There are two sides in Gone Girl, but not of the same story. Any time there is a discrepancy, it is because someone has lied. There is no misinterpretation of a single event, just blatant lying.

I definitely agree. That is why it is right to hear the other party out before we judge.
