Definitely a 4 out of 4 stars for me. I thought it was well written and it held my interest throughout.

I read this quite a while ago. It left a lasting impression. Here I am 4 years later thinking about the twists and turns...and wondering if Gillian Flynn has written anything lately. Guess I'll go look.

Loved this book, loved the twists and turns of the story. I don't think the movie version did it justice, but maybe that's because I read the book first.

I loved this book because it jolted me awake. It shook me with its sudden twist and hit me in the guts till I was panting for air. The movie was equally good, I felt.

The story started off good and interesting but the characters just seemed incredibly unlikable. The plot took a long time to unfold and meanwhile the characters only got worse. Pretty average IMHO.

Gone Girl is a 10/10 book. It is so tense and suspenseful. You are doubtful of the truth almost the whole way through and it is written brilliantly.
The characters are so convincing and it is a book I often think about in my everyday life.

I saw the movie first and loved it. Rosamund Pike aced the character! WOW.
But then I read the book and it blew my mind. I loved Amy. She was a psycho (probably) but she was fierce and no one you could eff up with.
But the ending was super effed up itself! How can you live with that whole situation between you? How can you live together and not plan on murdering one another on a daily basis?
The story was strong and the characters were real... I loved the hell out of this book.

I found this novel very entertaining, and I enjoyed the misdirection and random turns of the story. It definitely added layers to the plot and to the character. I thought the book was super dramatic, which made it really hard to put down. However, I didn't like the ending or most of the characters, but as stated above, I think the author wrote these characters so they weren't likable.

I loved Gone Girl. It's very rare that there are characters you're not being prodded to fall in love with yet still hold an inescapable obsession as to learn what happens next in their lives. There were layers to the story, each segment was done in this slow reveal that built anticipation and excitement. I would definitely recommend this book, especially to those who like thrillers and mysteries.

Overall, the story was very well constructed. The twists were shocking and the manipulation was expertly devised. However, there were many points where I felt bored. Perhaps I set myself up for failure after reading so many rave reviews of this book. It is absolutely worthy of such praise, but I was startled to find myself having to go back and reread sections because I simply was not paying attention. This was not necessarily a fault of the book, as it followed a very realistic timeline (so of course there will dull moments). After finishing it, I was not able to rate it right away. I needed time to digest everything. Today, I think I've finally decided upon a 3 out of 4 stars rating. I agree with other people who posted before me that the ending was lacking. I felt it was too abrupt. I was shocked when it ended there. And what about the detective? There's no way she would just fade away.

Nor any coursers like a page

Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

I loved Gone Girl and actually read more of the author's books after reading this one. I enjoy books with mystery and misdirection. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.
