I read this book a few months ago as it was the monthly selection for my in-person book club. I have to admit this is not a book I would have read otherwise, as I don't care for books that are fables/parables. I liked it more than I thought I would, but didn't love it. There were a lot of great lines and good universal lessons, but I felt some of it dragged a little. I am sure I am in the minority here. Actually, one of my book club buddies was the one who strongly recommended the book to the group and loves it so much that she often buys copies for gifts.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, there are some good lessons, but all in all it was hard for me to get through for me.

I read the graphics version and it seemed interesting. I think the original might be a bit more engaging, but I haven't got the chance to read it yet. Nice moral!!

I found The Alchemist to be a great book. I enjoyed the writing through most of the book although there were portions that were a bit dry. However, throughout the book I found myself connecting to my own life and looking for ways that I can be an all around better person. So overall, great read!

I´ve read a lot of different reviews about this book and am eager to give it a go. However, I´m a Spanish student and I´m wondering if anyone has read it in Spanish? If so, how was it?

I recently did an official Review Team review for a book called A Gathering of Warriors that reminded me a lot of this book. If you loved The Alchemist, I think you'll really like Gathering. I loved The Alchemist and really enjoyed the message of finding and following one's "personal legend". I would give it four of four stars.

The Alchemist is such an influential and insightful book especially when you are at a point in your life where you feel adrift. It gave me perspective.

This book is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read. The series is so underrated and it deserves a lot more audience and praise than it actually received. I was the first one to read it in my class and when I told my friends about it, they said: "Never heard of it". I gave them my copies and they got addicted.

It is a book worth reading. I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars. It cleared out a tremendous effect on my life and changed how I see the world today. It is an astonishing book that I would suggest that everybody should peruse it.

I love this book. I was first introduced to it by my mother a few years back thinking it was another one of her boring self help novels. I was surprised to find this amazingly written, deep and thought provoking novel. I even found myself writing down my favorite quotes. I really recommend this book to everyone.

Paulo Coelho has been my favorite writer since I can remember. Though my fav. book is Atlas Shrugged, The Alchemist is a close second.
The way Coelho explains the most complex of things in simple words is just amazing.
