I always feel sad when I see kids suffer due to parental negligence. Good review. Thanks.

Thanks for your review. I like it that it sets education in a very emotional context. I think teachers sometimes forget about their students' feelings.

Agreed.
I'm sure it's easy to do when they're trying to go from day-to-day, but this was just such an eye-opener!

I just finished the book and am right there with you. I felt immensely sad for these children that were dealt a difficult hand at home life. Great review!

This book broke my heart! I had my suspicions for some parts (no spoilers) but I enjoyed it all the same.

It tackles some important issues and reminds me of The Stranger by Albert Camus.
As for you & your heart & the things you said & didn't say, she will remember them all when men are fairy tales in books written by rabbits. (Schmendrick the Magician)

I loved this book! I'm sad that I couldn't give it a 4 out of 4... the grammar errors got to me.

However, maybe its because I work in middle schools, but this book really resonated with me. It reminds me to be kind and not to judge kiddos without giving them a chance first.

Interesting review. I found the message to be very solid, speaking truth about how our educational system is broken. But I found the storytelling lacking and characters too thin. But I’m glad you enjoyed it. Just goes to show how books can touch us in different ways.

They certainly can! I'm always interested to hear when a fellow reader has a different take away then I do- so thank you! :)

A very interesting book. Just finished reading it . In the end, you come to know about the real mystery and the answer to when and why actually Maxx stopped caring. This book is also about good parenting stuff. A must-read for new parents and teachers. A wonderful review .thank you.

This wasn't thrilling for me, it made me sad. All the while I wish I could just be his parents so I could take care of him.

I loved this book so much. It was so painfully truthful, and it made me want to hug Maxx and bake cookies for him. This book really made me cry because I wish he could have a better life. A little glimpse on his older life would have made me love this book more, there were so many questions in my head I wished that I could have the author's contact details and ask him about the book.
