YA is my favourite genre. I hardly ever dislike a YA book.

Wow thanks for the review, it has definitely piqued my curiosity. Likening Opaque to the X-Men series gives it a lot of appeal for me and together with the Russian descendent thread, it sounds like a real winner! I have it downloaded and will be reading it as soon as I can.

Thanks for the great review. Unfortunately, this is not my genre. I did like that the author made the character Adam like a normal teenage boy. This should appeal to a lot of young adults.
Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him.

Thanks for your review. This sounds like a great YA sci-fi novel. I think many teenagers feel a bit like a mutant at times as they go through the teenage years...

This book definitely sounds a very interesting and unique premise. I'm a huge fan of the genre and I'm interested in reading more about Adam's mutation. I'm glad you enjoyed the book. Great review!

This sounds like a great YA Sci-Fi novel to put on our classroom book recommendations board! Thank you! Since I do not have time to read every book that I recommend to my students (high school), I rely heavily on reviews from OBC. Your review was helpful and much appreciated! :-)

I enjoy paranormal romance in ya books. I appreciate the added element of genetically inherited mutations and a group that tries to take mutations away from the descendants. I look forward to finding out what these mutations are and how the descendants make it through this story.

Thanks for a wonderful review. I agree, it’s a page-turner and am already halfway through it. I found the opening chapters, which focus on Adam’s dark thoughts, deeply disturbing. You are correct in describing his relationship with Carly as yin and yang, as her calm is the polar opposite of his intense anger. This is a great read!

The usual "superhuman" or mutant plot or story is a very common science fiction theme. These stories are sometimes so predictable as to their plots that they are very much a like. Here, however, that usual transparency in the plot is dotted with surprises and twists. This book shows that a mutant power story can be as opaque as it is exciting. Well done. I look forward to reading the sequel.

Opaque by Calix Leigh-Reign The review of gives insight into what to expect from Alex's life. It does sound as though it's geared towards Y.A. but I've many if these books to be good reads. As he finds how to use his abilities with the help of Carly, I anticipate this to be a good book.

Great review!!! I do enjoy sci-fi novels but sometimes books geared towards young adults tend to read a bit elementary. After reading the sample, I'll make my decision.

"Saves him from his destructive nature" makes it sound somewhat like Twilight. I'll research this a bit more but sci-fi is a really hard genre for me to get into.

The book review describes the story in a way that is inviting and something I'd like to read. But after reading the preview on Amazon, I had trouble keeping my thoughts on the story as they kept rambling and I had to reread. I did download it as I may find it entertaining sometime in the future. Congrats on BOTD.
