Sounds like a good young adult paranormal book. Lots of conflict and change to create problems for the characters.

I was thinking that this was just another werewolf story by what it looks like on the cover. You have peaked my interest, how can someone turn into a werewolf by a dog bite, what changed in the abandoned house? I'll have to read this now just to find out. Great review.

I really enjoy YA fiction, especially those with a supernatural twist. It's a shame you felt it raced through the story too quickly without too much down time, but I can see a lot of younger readers perhaps liking the fast pace. Great review

I don't usually go for YA novels, but I love the paranormal genre. I got the free copy of the book today, and based on your review, I'll give it a try. It does seem to have a unique take, I've never heard of someone turning obese from an allergy to a dog bite. Then to be treated so horribly by family and friends, and then to be turned into a monster. Looks interesting, and I like that its a short read. I have a ton of books on my shelf, so short is good.

I haven't read a YA paranormal novel in ages, maybe it's time to change that with this novel. Great review!

YA novels are usually hit or miss for me, but I really like the idea that the author created his own monsters with unique backstories and didn’t just rely on common myths and typical creatures for his story. It sounds like this one may interest me!

Paranormal narratives hold little appeal for me. However, I think Out of Darkness has an interesting storyline. I also like that the issue of bullying was brought to the fore by M A Richards. Fine review, katiesquilts!

I don't usually read books about werewolves , but reading a sample it sounds interesting. The fact that the writer made effort with the characters and that the novel is fast paced that fits with this kind of novel. A sympathetic key character that rises to the occasion sounds like my kind of book.

This review really nails it on the head - great YA fiction, a little bit too fast-paced, but some fantastic character development. I just wish they'd slowed down a bit to let us really experience the world from Brian's eyes, as he was a really likable character.

Young adult paranormal story abouta teenager who is bitten by a dog, suffers an allergic reaction and gains weight as a result, then ends up becoming a werewolf, and how he faces bullying in the process. Weighty themes addressed here. No pun intended

A twist on your average supernatural story... sounds interesting. The struggles the main character goes through are sad but also could be relatable. I don't mind when a book doesn't have that many descriptions so I'm excited to check this out. Great review!

I started reading the book today and after reading your review I now have a better understanding of the main plot and the difference in the supernatural creature backgrounds/histories. I also agree that the author could have spent more time on description.
