I enjoyed your review and the book seems quite interesting with well-rounded characters. It almost seems like it's a memoir of two siblings, except it's fiction.

The story starts when orphaned siblings Star and Thatch are very young and impressionable. It discusses how issues of violence, racism and displacement affect growing children. While the plot seems interesting, I wonder whether it will keep YA interested because of the lack of action in the early chapters. But the perfect rating intrigues me to read on. The book may grow on me.

This sounds like a really good book! Usually books only show a very small portion of the lives of the protagonists, so this sounds interesting. Great review!

The title sounded like a fantasy book. Reading the review it resonate so much with my life. I am a dreamer too and my dreams had helped me a lot trough the years. It is a book that seems like real life as the characters grow and change. It is on my to read list.

While this book receives high praise for being so well written nothing about the plot really jumps out to me personally. The sibling bond seems to be a big part of it and as an only child that is not something I can relate to.

This sounds like a book that young people can easily identify with, through the experiences of Star and Thatcher's journey into adulthood. Well written review.

The official review of The Dream Keepers by Linda Keen is well-written. However, it would resonate with a larger audience, especially mindful parents, if the review focused on the very adult themes in this story of sibling love as the mainstay through the challenging changes of growing up in America.

The reviewer enables us to get a good sense of some of the principals in the story: Starlight, whose intuitive dreams create an inherent optimism in her; Thatcher, her older brother, whose devotion to her is unique; and some of their friends. However, the impact of leaving their Southern grandparents, with unwavering, small-town values, to go live with their wealthy, educated, artistic LA-based grandparents is not well-developed in the review. Yet, it is the key to the direction of the lives of these two children as they grow together into adulthood.

As Star and Thatcher grow up, their unexpected experiences with urban crime, racism, poverty, homelessness, and emotional rejection, contrast strongly with their early lives of peace and security. More "compare and contrast" in the review could present valuable opportunities for discussion within families about the values necessary to survive in, and contribute to, our society today. The resolution of this story also provides an all-too-rare optimism about the future faced by today's young adults. I found this to be the most powerful section of the story, and one not touched on by the official review.

I don't usually read coming-of-age novels but the fact that you couldn't even think of anything you disliked about this book makes me think I should give it a chance. It focuses on some important themes like racism and relationships. Thanks for your review!

Wow 4 out of 4 is impressive for this book! I do not normally like reading these sorts of books but it sounds like a different style of writing to usual books with this content. I will be adding it to my bookshelves!
