Re: Rereading Harry Potter Series

The Harry Potter series is so close to my heart because it was one of the books that really made me experience the magic of reading. It was also one of my reasons for dreaming and trying to be a writer. Reading it again will give joy to my heart, but with my ever growing pile of to-read list, I think it will be hard, but never impossible.

I reread them all once a year and my hubby and I watch all the movies (we own them) every year at Thanksgiving time. And then we endlessly debate details and theories. We are nerds.

I love the whole series and listen to the Jim Dale audio books almost daily while I work on projects. My favorite is The Half Blood Prince because we are really beginning to see the amazing complexity of Professor Snape as a character.

I don't know that I can pick a favorite book from the series as they are all a cohesive whole in my mind. I try to read the series every couple of years. Harry Potter is actually the first YA series to capture my attention as an adult. :techie-studyinggray:
I agree that they are a cohesive whole.

I love seven too. I love all of the wand lore.

I would love to see more stories about them. Imagine the adventures they had.

I only read the complete series once in 2011, and I have only reread the first three books since then. I plan to finish re-reading the Harry Potter series this year, but I keep getting stuck on book 4. I don't know what it is about it, but I can't seem to get past it.

I bought the audiobooks a couple of years ago and now I've re-listened to all of the books at least three times, on top of rereading the books a couple of times as well. I actually have no clue how many times exactly I have read those books, but I never get board of it and every time discover something new about the story.

I've only read the Harry Potter series once and that was after a friend asked me to go to the premier with her. I liked them alot but didn't completely get it. This year I reread them in order to understand an assignment for my theology class. They are extremely good. I've realized there are alot of religious references in the movies and books.

My favourite book has to be The Goblet of Fire as i feel that it marks the turning point in the series, with everything getting darker and more serious. I also love Fred and George in this book! That fireplace chapter at the start is so funny. I really like how that is balanced with the dark undertone of the first chapter and the mystery of links to Voldemort through out. But its a very hard choice! I love that we get to learn about significant characters in the third, sixth and seventh books.

The fifth one is my absolute favorite. It's J.K. Rowling's best work in my opinion. Her writing was at the top of her game there.

I am always up for a Harry Potter reread! As hard as it is to choose, I may have to say Book 7 is my favorite just because it wraps it all up so nicely, and the stakes are higher than ever. Plus, that was the first book I ever cried from, and wow did it make me emotional!
