My Ladybird story by Magus Tor has all the klishe ingredients that make a story likeable. (Spoiler alert)The bullied guy, who doesn’t feel quite comfortable in his skin, the new friendly student who ends up being his anchour. The topic is quite ‘in’ but the setting and characters kind of fake with bits that were borrowed by other books and high school films. I had the impression that I was reading a ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Duff’ mix novel, without the whole mythical elements. I had a feeling that the author hadn’t decided how to portray the main character yet: a teenage normal version of Edward Cullen or an insecure mooronish Weasley. As mentioned above, a likeable but not memorable story.
