Re: Hunger games volunteer?

Post by Stephanie114 »

I don't have a little sister but I have a little brother who is around the same age as Prim was when she was chosen, and yes, I would volunteer. I would not make it very far, for I don't usually see things "coming" and I don't know how to keep my eyes peeled. But, I would volunteer for my brother in a heartbeat and I would never, ever, ever want to watch him go through that. I would never be able to sleep or breath or talk.

I don't have a younger sister, but I would imagine I would end up volunteering if I did. I definitely would if it was my child, and I imagine having a younger sister, especially one as young as Prim was, would compel me to take action in that situation.

This is one of those things where to some it may be a hard choice but others it’s an easy one. For me my 9 year old nephew (parents raise him so he is basically my brother), I would take his place in a heartbeat. He is also one of those kids however that I feel would try to deny me taking his place. He is so tough but one of my main goals in life is to protect him

If I was better suited and more capable to become the winner, then yes I would most definitely. However if I was the lesser of the two then no I'd let them go. Such as Katnis was older, stronger and more adverse in hunting. That made her the better suited for the games. But if I was Prim in the situation then not a good idea.

I don't have any siblings to really know whether I would or wouldn't however, my initial reaction here is to stay quiet.
I'm an incredibly accident prone purpose and injure myself all the time at work, so I'm pretty sure I'd die in the hunger games, so I definitely would not want to volunteer

I would have volunteered to save Prim. Even though I was the youngest sibling, I took care of them, as soon as I was old enough to be able. To this day it would be hard not to make sure they were safe and okay. Fun question!

I think it was a tough decision. By leaving Katniss saved her sister's life but endangered the family since she would not be there to take care of them. She knew her friend would look after them but it's not the same thing. Either way she showed her core strength of character to protect those she loved.

I think I would depend on how well my sister and I were getting along just then! :D

This is hard but then I am passed the age of volunteering so I think I escaped but if I hadn't well I could volunteer for my younger brother. I know I would do that on impulse. This is a though provoking topic.

I would like to think that I would do the same if I had a little sister like Prim. However, I don't think I can ever know that for sure unless I was actually put into a situation like that.

I'd be scared out of my wits but I would volunteer as a reflex. I'm the eldest of my siblings and I don't think I could live with myself if something happened to them and I felt like I could have spared them, especially in such brutal conditions as the Hunger Games and the fact that I would have to watch it. That being said I could understand why someone else might not, especially if they felt like they wouldn't stand a chance and the possibility that their sibling may simply be picked another year.

Katniss and Prim share a different kind of bonding. Katniss's courage is appreciative. If I was in her place, probably that is what I would've done. You just can't watch your younger sibling walk to their own death, can you? Especially since Prim was so young and inexperienced while Katniss was a talented archer.

I would definitely volunteer for my sibling because I do not think I could live with putting somebody I love up on a serving platter if I knew I could do something to save them.

I would like to think that I would volunteer for my sister, but honestly, I don't think I really would take that chance.
