Once Upon a Time University by Savannah Ostler is one of the best young adult books I have read this year. This book was so much fun to read, and took me out of the real world and into a place where magic and fairy tales are real. This book is a sequel to Happily Ever After High School, which I unfortunately have not had a chance to read yet. However, this book stands alone and can be enjoyed without reading its predecessor.

Albany French, college freshman, just graduated from Happily Ever After High School where she went from being your average high school kid in an average high school, to living in a world where fairy tales and magic are real! She finds true love, defeats her arch nemesis, and even finds her happily ever after, but that was another story. Albany is beginning a new adventure and now attends Once Upon a Time University, a magical college where fairy tales and magic continue past any happily ever after from high school.

College brings plenty of new experiences and of course plenty of trouble. Albany may not suspect anything but, Once Upon a Time University may not let her live happily ever after, after all. Albany receives an ominous message that someone at the university wants her dead. Larry Shadows is already vanquished, which leaves Albany puzzled and slightly concerned that either someone is playing cruel jokes on her or she really might be in danger again. Albany also receives messages from a secret admirer within hours of arriving at the school, even though she already found her true love and prince charming. Could there be mysterious magic at work? Will Albany discover a new enemy and maybe a new love? You must read to find out!

Albany is charming and easily relatable to the average teenager who dreams of extraordinary things happening in their beyond ordinary worlds. She is extremely down to earth and has a spark that engages the reader. Albany is most certainly not your average fairy tale “princess” and brings a new-age flare that defies the typical fairy tale stereotype for female heroines. Albany is a character you will root for and will want to be your best friend.

This book most definitely deserves 4 out of 4 stars. Savannah Ostler puts together a magnificent new world that draws the reader in. I personally wish I could have attended Once Upon a Time University because Savannah makes it sound like so much fun! This book will enchant young adult lovers young and old.

I enjoyed reading your review. I've heard about Happily Ever After High School before, and I think I'll give it a try! :D

Love the title and the whole idea for the book. I would probably want to read the first book first but this sounds like a cute series.

I'm one of those who was intrigued by the title as well. This reminds me of the show where the high school kids are children of princesses and villians, haha. This really does seem interesting for the genre though. Imagine having magical abilities throughout university...forget chores or making meals when those important papers are due! Thanks for the review!

Oh wow, that's a really good review! It's a story I'm sure I would enjoy - a blend of young adult fiction, and magic, two of my favourite genres! Definitely hope I can give it a read

OH! I have heard of this book before! I think Amazon has recommended it to me or something, but I am going through a spell where I am "not allowed" to buy any more books until I read the ones I have. I love this genre and this kind of story, so there is no doubt that I would love it, for sure. Thanks for the review!

I have never heard of this book but I very much enjoyed your review. I LOVE fairy tale stories, so I will have to put both books on my TBR list, and towards the top, too.

As someone who loves fairy tale stuff, this sounds right up my alley! I'm going to have to check it out.
