The book sounds intriguing, however the author should have done more on character development.

jardenjarden wrote: 13 Aug 2020, 03:59 It's nice to see that the author was able to incorporate such important topics into their story. It's unfortunate that the characters weren't as believable, as it usually leads to readers feeling like they have been taken out of the fictional world. Thanks for your review!
Fiction is good when it is believable. You are welcome Jarden. Thanks for your comment.

Chiawa wrote: 13 Aug 2020, 06:27 I enjoy fictions with an attribute of historical facts and a bit informative. The mere suggestion of teenagers using real guns for any reason is unacceptable. The review outlined the strengths and shortfalls of the book, which in my opinion, is impressive. Good job!
Thanks for the positive feedback Chiawa.

Pluma wrote: 13 Aug 2020, 22:27 Sounds like a good read that integrates some interesting themes. The topic of Native American history sounds intriguing, but it’s a pity about the less believable aspects and the inappropriate gun use. Thanks for the great review!

Mukukamm30 wrote: 14 Aug 2020, 01:20 The book sounds interesting. Although young adults may not have qualms about believability, I think he could do a good job next time in trying to make the characters believable. Times are changing and the young adults have a broader understanding of things.
That is true. Thanks Mukukamm.

Henry_Stanton wrote: 17 Aug 2020, 21:25 Contrary to some previous comments, I found the characters to be quite believable. People pressed unwillingly into dangerous and mysterious circumstances often rise to the occasion by calling on a visceral fortitude they did not know they possessed. Also, teenagers faced with supernatural enemies that threaten their very existence and that of their families sometimes need to use whatever means possible to protect themselves and those they love. I liked this story for several reasons: very strong female characters - the very tight bond between the two protagonists - the tie into Native American history and culture - the detail and strong development of all the characters and their relationships. It is basically a fantasy story, so some leeway must be given for literary licenses taken. It is an excellent story with many surprises.
Thanks for the comment Henry. It is an interesting story.
