This book seems to include family drama with supernatural touches. The subject of the debates between faith and reason looks interesting. It is also striking that it is based on characters, such as Sydney, which seems to have a leading role.

In spite of your highly informative review, I do not find the story sound interesting enough to read this book. The combination of visions and faith is a nice detail, though.

The frosty blizzards, sustained injuries, threatening infections, and life-saving miracles would definitely keep readers invested in this storyline, and it does seem to have “American classic” potential. I look forward to reading this one, so thank you for your review!

Thank you for your review. Based on the title, I would not have looked at this book. Based on your review, I find that I would most likely read it. I enjoy historical fiction and character-based novels.

The topics on faith and reason are indeed an endless debate. Your review writing skills are impeccable I must say. The book sounds quite adventurous and full of plot twists. I'm shelving it right after this comment :).

From your detailed review, the book seems to be emotionally charged and highly intense. I am not much interested in topics of faith but your review was very helpful nonetheless. Great review!

I like that it’s a character-driven book. Apart from the fact that the characters in the book are very well developed, I also like the fact that the book deals with topics that are close to the average reader, such as the fight for debt repayment.

Sydney and LaMar sound like two very brave souls who had the guts to fight everything that came their way. LaMar suffered from trauma but fought it courageously. I would like to read this book. Congratulations on BOTD!
