Sadly, I haven't read the original Alice in Wonderland but I have a strong love for the darker sides of fairytales so I'd have to say I'd like Splintered more.

I don't think they can be compared. True, Splintered is "inspired by" Alice, but they're totally different.
I enjoy them both for what they are.

Being an avid lover for Alice in wonderland, this is one of my favorite series. It takes a WHOLE new twist on AIW. It's dark and descriptive and you spend a lot of time In Wonderland. The whole storyline is great

I've never read the original Alice in Wonderland, but I am a HUGE fan of all the movies and entertainment that comes from it. I love every piece of entertainment that has ever been inspired by Alice in Wonderland just like I love Splintered. When I saw the cover of this book at Books-A-Million, I had to have it! I like the dark twist, and I love spending time in Wonderland. It's as bizarre as it's supposed to be. However, I believe that you can't compare this to Alice in Wonderland because it's a different story. As is the Tim Burton movie. They're both great works, though.

I don't think there can be a real comparison here. Yes, Splintered is an amazing book but in the end it's inspired *cough* rip off *cough* from Alice in Wonderland. And that's a book that speaks on a different level to children as well as adults. Whereas Splintered, it's definitely enjoyable for teenagers, but it lacks the depths that Alice in Wonderland has.

I read Splintered and really liked it. I own the second book, Unhinged, but haven't read it yet. Alice in Wonderland is fantastic, but there's really no way to compare Splintered to it because it is a "re-telling". I adore re-tellings, especially anything Alice related, even though they seem to be a trend right now.

Do we really have to choose? Sure, AIW is the original and source of the inspiration, but Splintered is a twist, making it its own story. Or maybe I just don't like making choices. :)

I love the original, but I love this re-telling. I am finding that I usually enjoy most re-tellings as long as they bring something unique to this story, which this novel definitely did.

Definitely the original Alice in the wonderland. Not that the dark twist is not good, but I love the original series.
