Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone else participates in the April Poem a Day challenge?

I've never heard of it. What is it?

PS: Check your PM (private messages) i.e., check the buttons in the "subnavigation bar" a the top of this page for "PM".

April is national poetry month, some people celebrate it as a time to write poetry every day. I follow Robert Lee Brewer's blog Poetic Asides and he has two poem challenges a year. April he has something that he calls the Poem a Day challenge where he posts daily prompts and you can write to them.
Here is one link explaining the guidelines(http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/ ... guidelines) and another with tips (http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/ ... -challenge).

I do this challenge every year and eventually I hope to have my poems edited into chapbooks to self-publish.

PS: I saw that I got a PM, but haven't had the chance to read anything yet. I hope to have time this evening. :)

You're welcome. I did yesterday's prompt, but haven't gotten around to today yet. I'd be open to sharing if anyone does participate this year.

It does sound interesting and it sounds like something I should do! I haven't written a poem in quite some time. I need to try my hand at writing one again.

Okay, we are now 7 days in to April, so if you're participating, you should have at least 7 poems.
Is anyone participating?
I am a little behind myself, I only have five, but today is not finished yet and I should have time this weekend to catch up and revise.

April is over and I was able to write 30 poems last month.
Did anyone else participate?

Yes, I do these every year! I also follow Robert Lee Brewer on the Writer's Digest University website (I have taken several courses through them) and I do other poetry prompts of his throughout the year. But, I love participating in his PAD challenges and I'm so excited to get started next week on the November PAD!

Hi, Brandi!
I, too, participate in the November PAD challenge. I also do NaNo in November. I'm excited for next month!

Me too! It is the perfect time of year to get cozy and hunker down for some writing! At least in my neck of the woods...I live in the Pac NW, so Nov usually means lots of rainy nights.

I'm in the Midwest so it's pretty cold here, too.
What genre are you writing in for NaNo?
Do you try to write with a theme for Nov PAD?

I'll be writing contemporary fiction for NaNo. I've never done a theme for PAD, that's an interesting idea. I typically just write wherever the mood takes me. How about you? Do you usually do a theme?

I've done both, depending on if I have an idea or not.

Actually I heard it from your post. What is that? just a challenge or a competition?
