2016 OnlineBookClub.org Publishing Contest

Post by Scott »

Happy New Year! :D

I was able to program a cool new feature: It's a 2016 Publishing Contest!

One of our members is going to win a great publishing deal from OnlineBookClub.org.

You do not need to have already written a manuscript to enter or to win.

This is one of the cool things about the contest. You can win the publishing deal before even writing a manuscript, in case you are nervous to bother writing it if you don't know it will be published.

To enter, simply fill out the official publishing contest entry form. It is easy and completely free to enter.

If you are not a writer but know someone who is, here is the URL of the page so you can share:

Code: Select all

http://forums.onlinebookclub.org/shelves/pub-contest.php
The winner is whoever gets the most "votes" by April 4th. A vote is a pledge to buy the book if it is published. The pledge is just for fun; it's not binding or anything. It's completely free to enter and completely free to vote. You can vote for more than one person.

What do you think? Please post a reply letting me know. If you have any questions, please post them as a reply here.

I extended the contest from April 1st to April 4th only to make sure nobody thinks it is some kind of awful April Fools joke. It's for real.

Thank you for this contest and wonderful opportunity. I have actually wanted to be a published author since I was 8. I have continued to write but just never gave myself that nudge until now to do anything more. This contest gave me the push to put myself out there! I joined. Who else will join or at least vote?

Thank you @"lorenicole"! Good luck :)

I'm hoping the contest can be aspiring. Although only one will win the one prize, I am hoping that simply taking part will inspire the participants to reach their goal when they see how much their friends and family including the online friends here at OnlineBookClub.org support them.

@Chels14 it does require people to register to vote but the good thing about this site is that it is fun and free to be a part of!

Well after debating with myself about entering the contest I decided to. I have had heavy doubts about my story and have been very reluctant to share it, let alone talk about it. :) Here's to aspiring authors!

I'm ecstatic about this opportunity!! I started my novel(la?) during NaNoWriMo and have started slacking on finishing it. This may just be the incentive I need to complete it.

Is there a link to vote for the participants? I accidentally found a link a few days in a forum post a few days ago, but I am not sure if it includes all of the participants or just the top vote-getters so far.

@bookowlie You can see the top vote-getters at http://forums.onlinebookclub.org/shelve ... rboard.php

There is no full list at this time.

However, I was thinking perhaps starting a topic in the forums in which each participant can explain in more detail what their book would be about and/or why people should vote for them.

I think that would be useful, having a consolidated place to handle entrants. The problem is, if you aren't on the 'top vote-getters' list already, you probably won't make it there because people can't browse for it. Right now there is no clear place to go to find entrants except the top of of the list.
