I really wish I could illustrate. I am so jealous of artists because I would love to illustrate for a living. I'm in the middle of attempting to create a children's book, but the only thing stopping me is that I cannot illustrate.

I'm not able to illustrate my stories but I have decided to learn how to draw and practice it. I want to be able to illustrate my stories rather than getting someone else to do it. Only I know what my characters truly look like so I figure I'm the best person for the job of drawing them.

I don't think they have to be professional. Just use your own ability. What is important is using of colors that will catch their eyes
