This is the reason why I read the Charlie Bone series out of order. It was a confusing and vaguely annoying experience. The only time that books in a series shouldn't have numbers is when the series is about time travel.

I ended up reading the 9th in a series first once. But the worst part was that the book was numbered. - I had to look up the 'Hunger Games' and 'Zom-B' order though.

100% agree. I hate series that aren't numbered. Like...how am I to know what book this is? It makes everything way more complicated than it needs to be.

i coldnt even tell you! the amount of times i accidently bought a book but it was like book 3 out of 6 is almost unbelievable. in fact one of the first book series that i read, was halfway through the series, it was the second out of three which completely and utterly annoyed me

I'm a little compulsive so I always look up the order.
If I can't find it online I look in one of the books and find the series list there.
Like I said...compulsive :P

I actually like the adventure of trying to search out the correct order; kind of like trying to solve a puzzle. But I do admit, that at times it can be a bit frustrating with some series to find the correct order.

It bothers me a little bit when books aren't numbered in a series. But nowadays with the Internet in my hand at nearly all times, it's just a matter of Googling the series and Wikipedia or something will have the next book listed. So it takes a little bit of effort, but not a lot. I've learned to adapt to it since some authors/publishers just aren't into numbering.

It drives me crazy. I hate it when I think I am reading a first, then find it's a fifth. Sometimes I can't figure it out, it just drives me crazy.

I don't mind as long as the author (or publisher) lists the books in the proper order on one of the first pages of the book.

Sometimes they list them in alphabetical order. Thanks. :?

And sometimes the book itself has the number on the spine, but the Amazon page doesn't reference it in the product description.

It doesn't stop me from reading the series, but it is annoying. I find myself constantly trying to remember which ones I read and which ones I didn't.

Yes! I agree completely. I hate when you discover it's not the first or if you get a whole series and you spend twenty minutes trying to remember/discover the order. I love when authors put the series order on the cover/spine. How hard is it to type, "Book one" "Book two" etc. ?
