Heartaches 2 by H. M. Irwing is a tragic story focusing on Anna. She lost her virginity to her prince charming Matt Preston who later got exposed for the devil he really was. Matt together with his brother Jason and their father Peter Preston drugged Anna without her knowledge and then they raped her. They treated her like a whore which caused her deep emotional and physical pain. Nightmares haunted her as a result of the sexual assault. Being a victim of rape did that to her. It shattered her on the inside.
Anna later joined a military college where she met a man by the name Rafe who was going through the same agony as she was. Rafe was also one of the Prestons but his character was different from theirs. He was a reasonable man. The two comforted each other and found strength in each other. Anna felt safe in Rafe’s hands. They fell in love and their love was so powerful that it gave them strength to confront their past. Having gone through bitter experiences and heartaches in the past, they decided to fight their own battle and get revenge for what the rapists did to them. The burn for vengeance was there within them both. They decided that they were together in this and if one goes down then they go down together.
This is a story centred around rape and it portrays how rape can result to physical and emotional damage to the victims. It also portrays how true love can be more powerful than hate and how love can give you the strength to do the impossible. It can give you strength to confront your fears.
I love the way the author puts his words into writing which makes the book interesting to read. The plot of the story is easy to follow and all the scenes are well explained enabling the reader to get absorbed in the story. The characters in this book are also very interesting. The author has maintained the erotic scenes in this book within a reasonable limit which is good.
I didn’t come across any grammatical errors meaning that the book was professionally edited and therefore I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. However, there are some Intimacy scenes in this book which may not be appropriate for underage readers. For those interested in romantic novels, you are going to enjoy reading this one.
