This sounds like a story of forbidden romance. I love reading about love, but not adultery. It sounds like the two main characters are unhappy in their marriages and search for happiness with each other instead.

I don’t normally read romances, but like you I am hard to please when it comes to writing style, and your review makes this novel sound like something certainly worth reading. Also it turned you on to another book! I love novels that do that - stories with real life books, music and films in that give the plot that added realism, while also subtly giving me recommendations as to what I might like to read or listen to next! And the fact that the writing is like poetry also makes it more interesting.

This book starts our really dark. I am not sure it is one I want to read right now. However, the review makes the book sound interesting. I have read Atlas Shrugged. Though I don't agree with many of Ayn Rand's viewpoints, she is an excellent author and the book is thought provoking while being romantic. I can only imagine this book will be thought provoking as well. The review definitely makes it sound promising.

I think my favorite part of the few pages I've read so far is when the "hero" is lying in bed with his gun and remembers his bakery conversations with Ellie, including how she brought up "philosophy" in their baked goods discussions. I am very curious to know how the author would actually have written that dialog. Does anyone here have any personal experience bringing up philosophy, as a named topic, in a bakery check out line?
I think that a general allergy to Ayn Rand will prevent me from reading more of this book, but thank you for your thoughtful review!

My favourite line in your review was, "Someone who is their looking glass." That sounds so poetic and dreamy and it sucked me right in! Thanks for the review... it did its job!!

I am not a very big fan of love stories. However, this one got me hooked at the very outset. The concept of letters and poetry seems intresting and I even like the title. I am definitely looking forward to reading this. Thank you very much for sharing the review.

After reading the review, I think this book is about some deep & intense theme. It needs a lot of patience & an open mind, to read this novel, to see clearly through the glass which the author wants his readers to see. I'm definitely gonna spend some quality time on reading it.
And lastly, strawberrysab! You review writing style is fabulous. Thanks for the great review!

I love that a book within a book was an inspiration for the characters. I don't normally read romance novels, but you've made this one sound fascinating. I'm curious how the characters get along in life. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Now I would love to read 2 books - Atlas Shrugged and of course Looking Glass Friends. I loved the complicated relationships in the book. I would love to know how the relationship and between Neil and Ellie work. Wonderful review.
