Review of It Was Always You
Sometimes I like to escape my everyday woes by reading a romance novel, and so I picked up It Was Always You. I reluctantly quit reading after a few chapters because I had a meeting to attend. I could not wait to get back to it. It was like binge-watching a Netflix series. Between readings, I found myself thinking about Sophia, the protagonist, and wondering if she would make the right choices.
The author, Jessica Lynn Beyrer, is a singer and a songwriter, which lends authenticity to how the career of Sophia unfolds as she navigates her musical path. The two attractive gentlemen shown on the cover are Lucas and Collin, the loves of Sophia's life. Those men symbolically represent the choices we all have to face as we journey through life.
There are many positives in this book. First, I appreciate that the support of family and friends was realistically shown. Also, I like that the author's spicy love-making scenes emphasized the emotional connection as well as the physical one. Another positive is how it was easy to connect with Sophia because of the way the author was able to convey the experiences of all the characters that she interacted with. Finally, I was thrilled that the book was error-free and beautifully edited, which made for an enjoyable read.
I have nothing negative to report regarding this book. Therefore, my rating is five out of five stars. Mature readers who enjoy getting involved with a touching love story should read this book. The book also deals with handling grief and demonstrates how to go through a tragedy graciously. I do not know how much of the author's personal life is portrayed in this novel, but it reads like a memoir. This would be a perfect book to take along on a vacation.
