Romance books, historical or otherwise, are not typically my favored genre. There seem to be several things that are enticing about this book's storyline, but the changing accents would probably tip things over into a definite not read for me, as it is already a genre I don't usually read.

A cross societal borders story. It doesn't seem Cinderella-like though. It feels like grief and pain dosed with sweetness because all things considered its still a romance novel afterall.

I wonder which hideous crimes Lily would have committed? Is it her playing the piano? I am usually not too much into romance novels, but I will give this one a chance after reading the positive review.

A historical romance with a strong female protagonist seems like a great read. I'm curious to read and discover how the author touches on the topic of slavery and women's plight. Thanks for your review!

I love historical romance books. The interracial aspect of the story caught my eye. I will check it out. Thank you for your insightful review.

This sounds like an excellent historical fiction, of which I am a huge fan! I can see how the switching of accents would get confusing. Thanks for the wonderful review!
