Congratulations on being book of the day. The sample I read showed that this is not my type of book. Romance readers might enjoy it thought.

I do not usually read romance novels, but I am curious about what causes the behavioural changes in Vance. I am pleased the sexual content is tastefully done and is relevant to the story.

I really liked the opening few paragraphs and felt it captured my interest from the outset. Such a shame for the author about the editing issues, hopefully some valuable lessons learned for her subsequent books. I enjoyed reading your review and sensing how much you enjoyed the book.

I have not read a romance novel, but I would definitely pick this one up because the romance is tastefully done. I like that it is not just a book that features erotic content, but one in which it dives into the personal lives pf the characters. Both Mimi and Vance are three dimensional characters with hopes, fears and ambitions. I agree that a better editing job would have made the novel better, but congratulations to Heather on her first book! :tiphat:

Hmmm. It would take a lot for me to get into a guy who tried to strangle me, but women stay in abusive relationships everyday. Glad you enjoyed the book, but due to explicit contents, I'll sit this one out.

It doesn't sound like a typical romance sort of book. I completely agree with you that some romances just brush past the other aspects of the characters' day to day lives, which lends an unrealistic feel to the story. It's a real shame about the editing errors. Great review

I enjoy a good love story, but I for one find that if the sex scenes are too graphic it puts me off. So thanks for the warning, I would have read it but not interested in the sex scenes so going to give it a miss. Thanks for the great review.

Having read the opening of the book, I am hard pressed to understand why Mimi would (or should) trust going back to Vance. Perpetrators of domestic violence don't often change. Thanks for the review.

Well said about the book and the characters. The two lovers seem to easily connect after a small talk eventually sitting together and falling in love at a supersonic speed.
The story is interesting at least from the sample and the description in your review.

I empathize with Mimi. She hoped to find bliss only too end up with the beast. This is a situation that a lot of people find themselves in. The editing issues are a bummer though.

I’m not a fan of modern day retellings of classic fairytales. Glad you liked this one so much though. Thanks!

A very nice review. You really made me want to read this book. And it’s not even a genre I usually read!
