Another Summer by Sue Lilley is a steamy romance, second chance page turner. It is set in Cornwall so understandably, some of the phrases are not ones that are common in the United States. I saw this as a cultural experience.

Joe was a hard character for me to like. He has not been faithful to his wife, did not let her know he was forced to resign, and just generally seems self-absorbed. He finally started seeing the light when his wife, Evie, decided she had had enough and was leaving to think things through.

Evie needs an escape and has the perfect place at her grandmother’s cottage. She did not go there thinking she was going to meet anyone. Now she will have to decide if she is falling in love with Jake, the younger musician, or her husband.

Jake is a mechanic delivering Evie’s car to her after it broke down on her way to the cottage. There is an instant attraction that he would like to explore. He is very blunt and lets his intentions be known. Jake is also a musician about to get his big break and he would like for Evie to go with him.

There is nothing quite like a near death experience to put your life into perspective. We have all had those pivotal moments in life where something just made you stop and take a look at your life. I felt like the author portrayed Evie beautifully. She was not very strong in the beginning of the book, but as the story continued, she found her strength.

I did not see a change in Joe until the very end of the story. His good intentions almost got left by the wayside and then he tried to shift his part of the blame onto Evie. I just could never connect with his character. He is the type of person I would try to get a friend away from.

I give this book 4 out of 4 stars because I could not put this book down. I know I said I could not connect with Joe, but that is part of what kept me interested in the story. I wanted to see if there would be a change of heart and if I could see one redeeming trait in him. There are sex scenes in this book, so I would recommend it for only those 17 and over. The scenes were not done in a smutty or distasteful way.

Good review. Now normally I don't read romance but after reading the reviews it's gotten me intrigued. Joe seems to be they type of character you love to hate and I like watching characters develope and grow. Congrats on being BOTD.

The storyline sounds predictable. However, a character you get to hate right to the end sounds interesting. Good review.

A woman torn between two men is always romantic. It's a classic example of the bachelorite. I would love to read this book. Great review and congrats to the author for making BOTD.
