The book doesn’t belong to the romance genre
I am in agreement with AA1495 on this point. This review was very objective in searching for the positive points while revealing some weaknesses. This was a very honest review and one of the best I have seen posted.

I liked the understated humor and might later read the novel based on humor I found in the sample. The title put me off. I would not have read the sample without some incentive to do so. Entering a raffle was an incentive.

I was honestly very intrigued by the book because of your review of it; well, at least until I got to the part where you mentioned the overuse of secondary characters in the book. Let me tell you this, I absolutely loathe a story with too many secondary characters as they tend to overshadow the main plot and make me as confused as a drugged patient at the hospital. Great review though, very detailed. Good job!

Sounds like this one has a lot of missed potential. Great job on the review!

Thank you for the detailed review. Self - discovery is not my cup of tea, so I'll have to pass.

Overall, what I liked best about the book was Randy’s characterization. His personality, experiences and perceptions were described very well. The author portrays his strengths and weaknesses through numerous small incidents, which helped me connect with the character.
This is usually something I really enjoy in books, a well written main character. But all of the secondary characters sound complicated, I almost always get confused by the rest of the cast in any story and this sounds like a big group. The story has a good premise though. I felt like a got a good grasp of what the book was about after reading this. Great review!

Thank you for your honest review! I don't think this book is for me. I like the idea of Self-Discovery, but I prefer to read about someone more like myself because it makes it more meaningful. Good luck to the author and congrats on being chosen for BOTD!

This doesn't sound like my cup of tea. You're analysis sounds spot on. Thanks for the informative review.

From the sound of your review, I think I would agree with you about it being more self-discovery than romance. I checked the categorization on Amazon to see if the author/publisher took your criticism into account, and sure enough, it's listed under humor and contemporary fiction. Well done!

Odd that it doesn't focus on the romance.
Then you for the review.

Thanks for the review! I was kind of turned off by the title of the book, but it doesn't sound like that's what it's really about.

Thanks for the review. I have to wonder, if it was in a different genre, would you have given it a different rating or was it just not enough to hold your interest? Some people just can't get into self-help books, so if this is what you thought it should be under, would that have deterred your attention?
