Review of Future Plans
Future Plans by Stacy Lee is the story of a successful woman named Hazel Lavigne. Hazel has an event planning business that takes up the majority of her time. She has a young daughter named Eleanor, who is cared for by a nanny named Gabby. Hazel began to feel bad about spending so little time with her daughter, so she decided to pick her up after school one day. When Hazel got to the front of the line, she was told that her daughter had already been picked up by her father. Hazel was instantly panicked. Eleanor doesn’t know her father, and Hazel hasn’t even seen him since their one night together. Hazel has no idea what is going on, but she would never imagine all the secrets that she will soon discover. Will Hazel be able to get her life back on track? Or will this event change everything?
I do not normally read romance novels, but the description of this book drew me in. This book has a good balance of suspense and romance. The chapters jumped around between characters and time, but the story was not hard to follow. This book held my interest the entire way through. Hazel is a strong and dynamic character. She is very independent. She seems to insist on things being a certain way, but when her child is threatened she is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her family safe. Hazel has very loving and supportive parents. She also has a loyal best friend who would drop everything to help her at a moment’s notice. The story included some interesting twists that I did not expect. There are multiple romantic relationships throughout the story, which I enjoyed. I also really liked the emotional ending of this book.
I can not think of a single flaw with this book. I like the title and the cover. The cover is a good representation of the story. The story moved at a good pace. The characters are well developed, and the author ties everything together by the end. This was the second book in a series, but the story is complete on its own.
I give this book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I found no editing errors, so this book was clearly professionally edited. The author made the characters and their relationships relatable and believable. There was nothing that I did not like about this book.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy romance novels. This book would also be enjoyed by people who like suspense novels. The book contains mild sexual content and very little profanity. This book would be suitable for teens.
